The first project I'm sharing here is 30 things in 30 days. This is based on an idea I found on Kelly's blog, here. During August, I'm getting rid of one item (or a group) every day and posting them to facebook, if they don't get snapped up there, then I will Freecycle them or take them to the charity shop.
This might be a slower process than doing the whole flat at once, but I think it's easier to do it bit-by-bit, and therefore easier to sustain throughout the month.

This project falls under a bigger goal of mine which is
getting rid of clutter --> less mess -->
beautiful surroundings
and which also fits within the theme of my blog!
I'm excited for the results, and I know the decluttering will be an ongoing process. Anyone else attempting to banish the clutter in specific ways?
This is a really good idea. I am always attempting to get rid of clutter while fighting my natural hoarder tendencies. I need to have a good sort through of the kid's clothes and toys. That should fill a couple of bags for the charity shop! x
ReplyDeleteYep, I totally understand the hoarder tendencies. This time I'm trying to crack them by thinking really hard about what I keep. You could even get the kids involved with the de-cluttering and make it into a game :)
DeleteI agree wholeheartedly with getting the kids involved. I would be very upset when my Mom would discard things I cared about when I was a child without asking me.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, thanks for reading!
DeleteYes, involving them in the decision making is a really good idea (even though I don't have kids yet), to teach them to value their things, and give them a sense of ownership over it. :)
